The world of work is changing, propelling some to greater heights while leaving others behind. Globalization, advances in technology, demographic shifts, and other factors leave many wondering whether we, as a society, are ready to face the many challenges tomorrow’s economy will bring. That’s why the Office of the Future of Work (OFOW) was created: to understand, prepare for, and develop policy and programmatic solutions to foster an economy that works for everyone in Colorado. To learn more visit OFOW’s website at cdle.colorado.gov/future-of-work.
One specific area of concern is the digitization of the American economy. Millions of households have been left behind because of physical gaps in local broadband coverage, unaffordable subscription plans and computing devices, and a lack of knowledge regarding their use. This has never been more evident than the impact COVID had on students’ inability to learn online from home.
The objective of this project is to propose the creation of a Digital Equity Office for Colorado by first defining the problem that exists right here at home and then developing a set of corrective strategies that emphasize inclusion as a key opportunity to accelerate the pandemic recovery and overall economic growth.
This is a perfect opportunity to gain first-hand experience working directly with State officials and have real impact on Colorado’s communities. The project will start this fall and run through the summer session. Academic credit may be available through your university.
